Back in July of 2024, a survey was put out to get feedback from the sangat to find out what areas of the ashram they thought were doing well or needed improvement. Out of this survey a small group formed to access and work on plans to strengthen the concerns of the sangat. This group became the Community Development Committee and currently is made up of seven members who meet once a month.
The order of business was to find ways to get sangat members more engaged in the workings of the ashram. The committee developed three new Core of Volunteers (COVs) they felt would help draw more people together to perform seva and activities in the ashram and outside community. The new COVs are:
-
Community and Social Activities COV – Inspire participation in events we have done in the past including, Espanola Cleanup (twice a year), Good Friday snack booth, etc. Advertise social activities for ashram members such as pickle ball, Grace of God meetings, etc.
-
PR and Welcoming COV – Participate in introducing and talking with new members of the ashram and taking part in local events that show our concern for our community. Updating the Ashram Welcome Brochure.
-
Bhai Kanaya COV - This group would give individuals who feel they would like to have a confidential group they can turn to for help with emotional, mental and spiritual issues.
