The Ashram itself is located in a non-incorporated part of the City of Española called Sombrillo located about 20 miles north of Santa Fe. This is primarily a residential area with established home-owners. With the growth of the Ashram, many Sangat members are living in other regions of Española such as La Mesilla, Arroyo Seco, La Puebla, and north Española; all of these areas are 2-5 miles from Sombrillo. The Ashram Secretary can advise on housing rentals and real estate offered by Sangat members (mostly single rooms).

In addition to this, the best resource for finding housing in the Española area is the weekly Rio Grande Sun. New ads/issue are posted on the web on Thursdays: www.riograndesun.com. You will see a lot of mobile homes for rent. Rents vary widely. 2-bedroom houses run $650+/month, and comparable houses will still see this price variation. Be sure to ask if a washer/dryer or hook-ups for same are available, if you are expecting in-home convenience. Also ask about A/C (known here as swamp or evaporative coolers) and whether pets are allowed.
