The Emergency Preparedness COV is activitely working to help educate our community in how to be prepared in the event of unexpected emergencies. An Emergency Preparedness website is in the works and will have a wide range of information available to you soon. In the meantime, we have outlined a few resources that will be useful immediately for families and sangat members.

Secure Your Community


If it is possible - it would be a good idea for your community to get together and organize yourselves for an emergency that would last for two weeks. The key to a community plan is to decide ahead of time what you are doing to do in the event of an emergency. Make a plan that's simple - that people can rememer.



Below are some suggested questions to answer as a group, and examples of other community plans. In addition, here are some Kundalini Yoga meditations given by Yogi Bhajan on how to cultivate group and team survival consciousness.


For those people in your community who would like to prepare for an emergency as a group, a good first step is to get together and discuss the following questions:


  • Inventory - who are your community members who would participate in a group response to an emergency?
  • In the event of an emergency what are the steps to take?(Where will you meet? Who will be responsible for what aspects of community care?)
  • Will you have a communication tree to check on everyone during an emergency?
  • Will you decide to collectively store food and water as a community?
  • If so - how will that be handled - in terms of cost? In terms of storage? In terms of distribution during an emergency?
  • Will you decide to collectively store clothing, flashlight batteries and other supplies as a community?
  • If so - how will that be handled - in terms of cost? In terms of storage? In terms of distribution?
  • What is your security plan - to protect community members and community property?
